We promote a mentally healthy environment through:
- Promoting our ASPIRE school values
- Fostering a safe environment through our Good to be Green behaviour system
- A PDMU curriculum that helps pupils to build important life skills
- Focusing on relationships and connections to promote self-esteem and confidence
- Active listening
- Celebrating achievements in our newsletter and social media pages
- Encouraging healthy lifestyle choices
- Promoting pupil voice through our House System, School Council and Playground Buddies
- Providing opportunities to take responsibility for ourselves and others
- Taking time for reflection
- Helping children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks
- Giving support to each other in difficult times
- Special events for Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week and Anti Bullying Week
- A Pastoral Lead Teacher, Mrs Monteith, who works alongside the staff to support pupils and their families who are going through difficult life experiences such as bereavement.
- Access to the school nurse and counselling service in the Grammar School for those who need more specialist help.
- Working with external agencies such as the RISE Team
