School Life

PE & Sport

We have a balanced and varied PE curriculum, where enjoyment and development of fundamental movement skills are the core elements of each lesson in Foundation and Key Stage 1.

From Prep 4 to Prep 7, the children are challenged and encouraged to experience a wide range of sports and to build transferable skills such as teamwork and perseverance. It is our firm belief that children should have the opportunity to stay active, value a healthy lifestyle and find a sport they enjoy.

We teach the children that competition is part of playing sport and we train hard to represent the school in hockey, swimming, rugby, football and badminton. We are very proud of our success at local, Ulster and Irish level competition this year, particularly in swimming.

We are fortunate to have access to the Gym and Sports’ Hall in Friends’ School, as well as use of the super outdoor facilities including hockey and rugby pitches. In addition to this, all classes are timetabled for a 6-week block of gymnastics at Salto Gymnastics Centre every year and Prep 4 to 7 travel to Lisburn Leisureplex for swimming lessons as part of the PE curriculum.
